Trip up north

3rd July 2013

Seven members of Thamesmead Youth Voice (TYV) went on a residential to Wigan last week, staying at Wigan Youth Zone, which is a cross between The Link and Sporting Club Thamesmead, featuring four outdoor football pitches, a skateboard park, four badminton courts, a dance studio, music studio, climbing wall, gym, boxing ring, four pool tables and so much more.

“Their centre is the best youth centre by far – on every level. " said The Link's Centre Manager, Mark. "There were 500 young people in attendance when we were there.

“Everyone had an amazing time looking around Wigan Youth Zone as well as another myplace centre, The Factory Youth Zone in Manchester. It was fantastic to see what they have achieved."

As well as looking around the two centres, TYV members and staff took part in a night walk and a Dragons Den-style pitch with everyone being split into three groups, one managing entertainment, another souvenirs and another food, with a trophy for the winning team who made the most profit.
