Extreme fitness

7th May 2013

Thamesmead Gym was represented at the UK Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation’s South Coast Championships by local resident and Thamesmead Gym member, Dean Smith who competed at the Guildhall in Portsmouth last month.

Dean, who was entering the competition for the first time came runner up in the Beginners contest in an eight-hour marathon which saw a total of 127 competitors taking part in 18 different categories.

“Dean is fantastic!” said Thamesmead Gym Owner, Kaylon Townsend. “He has been coming to the gym for two years and credits us for helping him to build-up his muscles and for all he has learned about nutrition – we even got credited on Sky Sports when they filmed him taking part in a contest on there.

“Dean is a top fella and really popular among members – about 25 people from the gym hired a coach to cheer him on in Portsmouth. We wish him luck in his next contest taking place in Gravesend.”
