Two New Staff Members

2nd April 2012

Two new members of staff joined Trust Thamesmead on Monday 2 April, both of whom will work at The Link Thamesmead when it opens this summer.

First is The Link’s Deputy Manager, Shell Thorne (top right), who said “I come to The Link in a joint partnership post between Trust Thamesmead and Bexley Youth Service.

“Presently I deliver youth programmes and initiatives within the Thamesmead community, which provides social and informal educational programmes/projects for young people aged 8-19 from, across several sites including the Trust’s Manor Close Community Centre.

“I am really looking forward to The Link opening so we can offer young people a comprehensive and diverse programme, diverting individuals and ensuring they will access positive opportunities and experiences, which will enhance their social and personal development and promoting a can-do attitude which will impact their future.”

Coral Blackman (bottom right) has also joined as a Gapper at The Link, which is a nine month work placement which will also see her completing a Diploma in Youth Work. She said “My first day was really nerve wrecking as I didn’t know what to expect but from the moment I walked into the office, the atmosphere was lovely and I had a positive feeling about the rest of the day.

“I have done loads of work experience in different settings but never settled down permanently. I have always wanted to work with young people and with my hard work and everyone’s support and guidance I think I will do well and I hope to make everyone proud.

“I’m looking forward to more work and excitement in the next few months.”
