Young people given a voice
Children's Commissioner, Sir Al Aynsley-Green and his Deputy, Sue Berelowitz visited Thamesmead's Youth Leisure Zone project on 30 September 2009, as part of their Listening tour, which aims to meet children and young people to find out what issues and concerns they have and what is being done to address them.
Janice Jones, Community Development Manager, Trust Thamesmead said: "They were particularly interested in visiting the youth leisure zone, to establish the impact the £5m funding from the Government's myplace initiative will have on the lives of local children and young people.
"Thamesmead Youth Voice worked exceptionally hard on this project and were very excited by the visit, which serves as a recognition of their efforts."
